Milano, July 26, 2025 - The New Hospital of South-East Bari of Monopoli-Fasano, a premium level healthcare hub in the South of Italy, built by Webuild on behalf of ASL Bari (Local NHS Bari) and the Region of Puglia, according to the most advanced innovation and sustainability standards, was inaugurated today.

The structure, delivered and tested, will serve 260,000 people from the provinces of Bari, Brindisi and Taranto. Covering a total area of 178,000 square metres, it has 299 beds, 9 operating rooms with intensive care and specialist healthcare and diagnostic supporting services, an E.R., a large parking area for over 740 cars, and a nursery school for employees' children. The hospital has been also located in a park where approximately 200 secular olive trees were replanted.

The New Hospital of South-East Bari of Monopoli-Fasano was built with eco-sustainable local materials, and sustainable and bioclimatic design criteria to optimize the structure's energy efficiency. Among the

various design solutions used: renewable energy sources, the reuse of rainwater to irrigate, and the

production of hot sanitary water using solar energy. The photovoltaic system will allow a reduction of approximately 650 tonnes of CO2 per year; while normal water and drinking water will be saved thanks to two collection and accumulation basins of rainwater from the roofs, which will allow to reduce the potable water requirements up to 50% during the rainiest annual period.

The work is one of the 19 projects that Webuild is building in the South of Italy. It involved a supply chain of over 220 companies, 60% of these from Puglia. The structure adds to the over 200 healthcare structures, 80 airports and many other civil and eco-friendly works built by the Group globally with the aim of diminishing the environmental footprint along the entire life cycle of these structures. The Webuild Group has received many important acknowledgements in the Green Buildings sector at an international level for innovation and environmental sustainability, also collaborating with prestigious architecture firms. Among the works built: the Stravros Niarchos Cultural Center in Athens (Greece), the Al-Bayt Stadium in Doha (Qatar) and the new ENI HQs in San Donato Milanese (Italy).
